Even if you don’t plan to attend your reunion, please consider creating a page.
Editorial Standards for WMAA Class Reunion Books
Updated January 2026
- Purpose and Audience
- Primary Goal: Foster a sense of community, celebrate achievements and keep alumni informed on relevant updates about their medical school classmates.
- Target Audience: Alumni who earned their medical degree from the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (formerly the UW Medical School) in the same year or who have a documented preferred graduation year affiliated with that class.
- Tone and Style
- Positive and Constructive: Highlight significant professional, academic and personal accomplishments and milestones.
- Accuracy and Reliability
- Review: All submissions will be reviewed to ensure accuracy, especially the spelling of alumni names.
- Updates and Corrections: If errors are discovered, WMAA may issue a correction to the entry.
- Content Guideline
- Third-Party Organizations: In alignment with university policies (policy UW-205 and policy UW-206), WMAA reunion books will not suggest or imply university support or endorsement of any company, product, political candidate, or position regarding public policies, political movement, activity, or program.
- In Memoriam: Deceased classmates will be acknowledged on an In Memoriam page. Alumni may report omissions to wmaa@med.wisc.edu.
- Submissions
- Editorial Review: All submissions will undergo an editorial review process to ensure they align with the standards and purpose of the reunion newsletter. WMAA reserves the right to remove comments, links, photos or other content that it deems off-topic, obscene, a violation of intellectual property rights or privacy laws, commercial, or otherwise illegal or not germane to the purpose of these books. Our status as a public institution also means that the university must comply with certain legal requirements when responding to complaints about a post or requests for photos or comments to be removed. With limitations on what the university can remove, we focus on responding with additional information and alternative resources for members to consider.
- Ethics and Privacy
- Alumni Consent: Only pages submitted directly by alumni will be included in the book. WMAA will honor requests to be removed from the reunion books.
- Deadlines and Publication Schedule
- Timeliness: Submissions must be received by stated deadlines.
- Frequency: Reunion books are produced for every five-year milestone reunion from the 5th through the 65th reunion.
- Formatting and Design
- Readability: WMAA will prioritize clear formatting and accessibility (policy UW-519) when designing reunion books.
- Feedback and Engagement
- Engagement: WMAA encourages feedback from alumni to improve content and address any concerns or suggestions. These standards ensure that reunion books remain professional, informative and community-centered publications that alumni look forward to reading.
